Understanding what you may be experiencing
Trauma is not defined only by what happened. It is also about the impact an experience continues to have on your sense of safety, your body, emotions, relationships or view of yourself. Reactions can surface immediately or much later.
John understands from lived experience that a serious accident can divide life into a before and after. Therapy provides a steady relationship in which the effects of trauma can be approached with care, choice and respect.
You might consider support if you notice
These experiences are examples, not a diagnosis. You can contact John even if your situation does not fit a neat label.
- A serious accident or medical trauma
- Childhood or earlier-life experiences
- Emotional or psychological abuse
- Intrusive memories or feeling constantly alert
- Avoidance, shutdown or emotional numbness
- Loss of safety, trust, identity or confidence
How therapy can approach this
Person-centred trauma work begins with safety and trust. You remain in control of what you share. Sessions can help you understand protective responses, put language around the impact of the experience and gradually reconnect with parts of life that trauma has affected. John does not use pressure or promise that one method suits everyone.
Appointments in Meath and online
Choose in-person appointments in the calm, accessible Kilmainhamwood room or private online sessions from elsewhere in Meath. Before online trauma work, it is useful to have a confidential space where you will not be interrupted.
