Finding the right kind of support

People look for mental health support for many reasons. You may be dealing with anxiety, a period of low mood, grief, trauma, pressure in sport, a major physical change, or simply feel that your usual ways of coping are no longer enough. You do not need to have everything explained before contacting a therapist.

Sunrise Wellness Therapy offers individual counselling and psychotherapy in a private setting. John works from a humanistic, person-centred perspective, which means the work begins with your experience, your priorities and the pace that feels manageable for you.

In-person therapy in Kilmainhamwood or online

Face-to-face appointments take place in a warm, private and wheelchair-accessible therapy room in Kilmainhamwood, Co. Meath. Online appointments offer the same dedicated one-to-one time by video call and can be a practical option if travel, mobility, work or family commitments make an in-person visit difficult.

Both formats are confidential. You can ask John about the practical arrangements before booking and choose the option that feels most comfortable.

A qualified therapist with lived understanding

John holds a BSc in Counselling and Psychotherapy, a Diploma in Sports Psychology and a Diploma in Social Care, and is a member of the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. His own experience of spinal cord injury and life-changing disability also informs the empathy and realism he brings to his work.

Therapy is not about being judged or told what to do. It is a structured, supportive space to understand what is happening, speak honestly and explore a way forward that is meaningful to you.
