You are more than a problem to solve

Person-centred therapy begins with the belief that you are the expert on your own experience. The therapist does not take over or position himself as the authority on how you should feel. Instead, he works to create the conditions where you can speak openly, understand yourself and move toward choices that feel true to you.

John brings professional knowledge, but the work remains collaborative. Your feedback, pace and sense of safety matter throughout.

02

The qualities at the centre of the work

John’s approach is shaped by three core qualities:

  • Empathy — trying to understand your experience from your point of view
  • Authenticity — a genuine and present therapeutic relationship
  • Unconditional positive regard — respecting your worth without judgement
03

What can be explored

Person-centred therapy can provide support across many experiences rather than being limited to one symptom. John’s practice focuses on anxiety, depression and low mood, grief, trauma, coping, physical impairment, life-changing events and sports performance.

The approach does not mean sessions have no purpose. You and John can clarify what you hope for and review the work while leaving room for unexpected understanding to emerge.

Common questions

Questions About Person-Centred Therapy Meath

Does person-centred therapy involve advice?

John may help you explore options and understanding, but the approach does not centre on telling you how to live. Your own values and choices remain important.

Is person-centred therapy structured?

The work has a clear professional relationship and agreed focus, but it is not a rigid step-by-step programme applied identically to everyone.

What if I need a different type of specialist support?

A responsible therapist should be honest about scope. John can discuss whether his service appears suitable and signpost you back to a GP or another service when appropriate.

Can person-centred therapy take place online?

Yes. John offers his humanistic, person-centred approach both online and in person.

Need urgent help?

Sunrise Wellness Therapy is not an emergency service. If you or someone else is about to be harmed, phone 112 or 999 or go to the nearest emergency department.
